A Reflective Statement
My reflective statement is on the poem ‘She Walks in Beauty’ because I find that poem to be very soft and beautiful, plus it was a mild poem to understand. I analyzed this poem and studied the lines in it. This poem was easier than others I have read. But then again, it still was not an easy task for me because English is not my first language.
It seems that every time I posted something on the discussions I had to excuse myself for not understanding poetry completely or correctly. Even though this poem was easier than usual it was still hard to point out the differences and the statements that the speaker made. It is always so exiting to try to figure out others peoples work. If sometimes I don’t understand what the author is trying to say, I try to read it several times until I catch something, even one little phrase.
I enjoy reading and analyzing what I am reading. This was my first time analyzing a poem and I really liked it. The poem of “She Walks in Beauty” makes me see literature differently. Art comes in different ways and definitely poetry is becoming my favorite subject. I will read more poetry and do more analyzing even if it is just for me.
